Summer is coming to an end

Well the summer has left us, almost as fast as it came to us. Life is about to change once again. With the end of summer in sight, there are many things that I can look forward to with excitement and things I can look back on with good memories. This summer has been quite the roller coaster ride for me. I finished school in late April/early May and came home to be with my family and friends. In a normal economy, landing a job is not a hard task if you put your time and effort into it. But since this economy has gone down the crapper, it has become a real struggle for most people to find a job. Getting out early from school normally means a head start on the job market for most college students. I went straight to work on finding a job as soon as I got home. There were a few bright spots but they ended up being failures. A month and a half goes by and I still have not landed a solid summer job. But through perseverance and the grace of God, I found a job. Now cleaning elementary schools is not my idea of a perfect summer job but hey, it's a job and I am grateful for it. Summer also gives me time to reconnect with my friends who I don't get to see during the school year. My boys and I go out golfing as much as possible. It's a good way to get out and enjoy both the gorgeous summer weather and great company. With my work schedule, hang out time has been severely limited but I am so grateful for the time I have had to spend with my friends. I can also look back at my trip to Kansas City to surprise my girlfriend. She was part of her best friends wedding, as the maid of honor, but didn't have a date. She was so disappointed and sad that I couldn't make it but I did make it! I flew in a couple of days before the wedding and surprised her with my presence. That will be the best memory I have of this 2009 summer vacation.
Now onto the future plans and excitement. School is just around the bend. This means it's time to go back to living on my own. I love having the kind of freedom living away from home gives you. I also am excited to be back with the great friend I have made over the last two years. Being within walking distance of my girlfriend is also an added bonus. As much as I don't like school because of...you know...work, I am really excited to get back and learn new things. I already have a job set up for me when I get back and I can't stress the level of excitement I have. So how was your summer? Was it filled with fun and relaxing times or was it filled with shift upon shift of summer work? And what about the upcoming school year? What plans lie ahead for you and what fun and exciting things are you planning to accomplish? Write me back. I am interested in hearing what you guys are thinking. Thanks.

This is why I love golf

Golf is a very versatile sport. Many see it as an old man's game or that sport mostly white men play using sticks and balls. This video is proof that there are many aspects of golf people have yet to discover. I would encourage those of you who haven't given golf a try to just give it a shot. The game is designed for all types of people/players on all levels. Its great exercise and even more enjoyable as an opportunity for social gathering. Thanks everyone. Have an awesome 4th of July weekend!
